Hi! I am Eli, a globally minded food writer and photographer with a strong passion for traveling and exploring different cultures and gastronomies

Born near Barcelona (Spain) by the Mediterranean sea, food was always one of the most important topics in everyday life. More so in my family, that had a well-stablished restaurant in the city based on seasonal produce. For me food and cooking was so part of my life that I didn’t give it a second thought until I rediscovered my interest in gastronomy through the lens of anthropology and culture during my early travels.

After finishing my BA in Humanities and MA in Primatology in a very interdisciplinary scholar journey, I started travelling far and wide. I have lived and worked in: Spain, Italy, Tanzania, China, Thailand, Hungary and lately I recently moved to USA. All these places have given me a deep appreciation for the diversity of cultures and perspectives in the world. And I realized I wanted to tell their stories through food.

During my 5 years in Asia I started my own journalistic project called Canela Limón Chile where I researched the global connections between ingredients in national dishes around the world. I created a website and social media channels and I periodically publish my articles in www.canelalimonchile.com and on my Newsletter.

I also fell in love with photography during my travels, how not? It was a beautiful medium to share the sories of what I was witnessing. Still, it was only after learning with some of the best food photographers and stylists that I realized the craft is much more than just pressing the shutter. I am now constantly paying attention to the light, the colors, the textures and collecting compulsively ceramics and baskets from everywhere I go!

Since moving to Boston, Massachusetts, I feel creatively revitalized. I love the history, the parks, the farmers markets, the feel of the students and the soft light of the place. I want to learn more about New England’s food culture and possibly eat (and photograph) more oysters and lobsters than ever before!

I recently earned my second MA: Master in Gastronomic Journalism and Communication by the prestigious Basque Culinary Center

Since 2021 I have been working with two food-related businesses (a farm to table restaurant and an ice-cream store) photographing their products and helping them with their Social Media Management.

After taking this Masters I am much more empowered to build a communications startegy for brands that unites visual storytelling and strong messages to communicate their brand values.

Whether you want to share your brand’s story, give new life to your social media presence, or update your digital marketing, I can provide some guidance!
